Julie Cherrington, Ph.D.
President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member
Julie Cherrington joined Pathway Therapeutics as President and CEO in Oct. 2009. Previously,
Dr. Cherrington was president at Phenomix Corporation with strategic and operational
responsibilities for drug research and development at the discovery, pre-clinical and
clinical stages, and played a leadership role in the financing, business development
and corporate development functions in the company. Prior to joining Phenomix in 2003,
she was vice president of preclinical and clinical research at SUGEN, a Pfizer company.
SUGEN focused on the discovery and development of small molecule kinase inhibitors for
cancer and was a leader in molecular profiling patient samples in concert with innovative
Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trial designs with novel targeted agents. Dr. Cherrington was
instrumental in the development of SUTENT and its approval for renal cell cancer and
gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Prior to SUGEN, Dr. Cherrington held a range of positions
of increasing responsibility at Gilead Sciences. Dr. Cherrington is
currently a member of the Board of Directors at Xenome Ltd, a pain focused biotechnology company.
Mark Perry
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Perry began his career as an attorney with the law firm Cooley LLP, serving as a partner of the firm from 1987 until 1994. He left Cooley to join Gilead Sciences, Inc., where he held a number of positions from 1994 until 2007, including General Counsel, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Operations. Since 2007, Mr. Perry has served as the president and CEO of Aerovance, Inc. Mr. Perry is also on the board of Nvidia Corporation.
Joshua Funder, Ph.D.
Board Member, Investor
Dr Joshua Funder joined GBS in 2004 with experience in biotechnology management, business
strategy and the international pharmaceutical industry. Before joining GBS Joshua worked
in corporate strategy and development at Infinity Pharmaceuticals in Boston and the Boston
Consulting Group in San Francisco. In addition he worked with the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS
Initiative to successfully negotiate reduced prices for anti-retrovirals and initiate
pharmaceutical supplies across eastern and southern Africa. Joshua served as interim CEO of
Proacta Inc following GBS investment and is on the board of directors of GBS portfolio companies
Pathway, OPAL Inc, Peplin Inc, Spinifex Pharmaceuticals, Pathway Therapeutics and Nuon Therapeutics.
Joshua earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degrees at
Melbourne University and his Master of Laws degree at the London School of Economics. He holds
a D.Phil in intellectual property for biotechnology from Oxford University where he studied
as a Rhodes Scholar.
Mark Harvey, Ph.D.
Board Member, Investor
Mark joined CM Capital in April 2006 and has over 15 years experience in medical research,
technology transfer and commercialisation. He is involved in all aspects of life science investments.
Mark has played key roles in the formation, fund raising and management of numerous life science
companies including directorships, and has led the negotiations on numerous licensing and research
collaboration deals. Mark is on the board of directors at Pathway Therapeutics and Osprey Medical.
Prior to joining CM Capital, Mark was the Managing Director of Symbiosis Group Limited, an early
stage life sciences investment company, and was Group Manager, Life Sciences for UniQuest, the commercial
arm of the University of Queensland. In this role, Mark co-ordinated the commercialisation of
intellectual property assets in the field of life sciences (including biotechnology) at The University
of Queensland. He was a member of the Investment Committee of UniSeed, a $60million pre-seed venture
fund focused on the commercialisation of technologies out of the University of Melbourne and The University
of Queensland. Mark is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of The University of Queensland.
Mark earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours), PhD and MBA degrees at The University of Queensland.
Hilary Lewis
Board Member, Investor
Hilary is Chair of The Breast Cancer Research Trust. She is a qualified accountant, completed an MBA
in 1994 and is a member of the Institute of Directors. She is CEO - Australasia/CFO for Unimarket Ltd
a provider of e-procurement services. Previously she worked for House of Travel between 2004 and 2008
as e-commerce Director, combining her passion for travel experiences with the online practicality of
purchasing travel. She has also held a number of senior roles within finance and IT at Air New Zealand
over 13 years. Hilary is a supporter of the arts and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Silo
Theatre, one of Auckland's professional theatre companies focusing on developing innovative and edgy
performance. Hilary is a director for both Saratan and Perseis Therapeutics, representing The Breast
Cancer Research Trust on those Boards. As Chair for The Breast Cancer Research Trust, she is using her
leadership, finance, IT and strategic management skills, as well as her determination to halt this awful
disease in it's tracks, to drive The Trust to achieving it's goal of finding a cure for breast cancer
in the next decade.
Paul Goddard, Ph.D.

Dr.
Goddard currently serves as the lead director on the board of
Onyx Pharmaceuticals, and is on the board of Adolor and
HemaQuest. He was Chairman and CEO of Neurex Corporation from
1991 until 1998, when the company was acquired by Elan
Corporation.
